Xotlac (sho-tlak) is an artisanal project directed towards spiritual & revolutionary growth. In Nahuatl, it means “to sprout” or “break through the Earth”. Through all means of media, Xotlac is the creative expression meant to heal my heart and connect with others in the World. I hope to share my healing arts as openly as I can. Omokoya (omo-koi-yah) is the spiritual name I received from my ancestors in personal prayer. It is a family name that reflects my role as a child / descendant of powerful people who’ve fought against cruel suffering and oppression. Through my work, I reject suffering and obligation to controlling forces in the form of colonial institutions & perpetuators. My purpose is to keep and pass down knowledge & skills. I am driven by the values of justice and self-determination.
